From A to B...On my Own

We knew it would happen sooner or later but Emma is now fully mobile...she can crawl to anything that catches her eye. Unfortunately, most of those things are her big brother's not-so-infant friendly toys. It certainly seemed a lot easier to care for two kids when you knew one of them couldn't get from A to B and would always be exactly where you left them. But Jake has proven to be a pretty good watchdog as he usually will alert us if Emma gets too close to something she shouldn't.

Easter Egg Hunt

For Easter, we went to an Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Annika at a local San Mateo park. Although Emma was too young to hunt for her own eggs, Jake really got into it and had a blast with the other kids hunting for eggs and of course opening the eggs to reveal what was inside.

Even though Emma was not hunting with the other kids, she still got into the spirit with her own easter egg basket...which Jake promptly filled up with some eggs from his own basket.

Annika and Jake waiting for the official start of the Easter Egg Hunt!

Jake waiting patiently (well...at least waiting) for the group picture to be taken so he could dive into opening his eggs.

Second Born Syndrome

It's true what they say...with your first, you have a million and one pictures of every second of their life. All moments are captured on film...big or small. With your second, there is less time to pull out the camera to capture that oh-so-cute moment as you are usually tending to your toddler or the even more piles of laundry that comes with having two kids. I find myself going for days and sometimes weeks without taking pictures of the kids. So my mid-year resolution is to put the laundry aside and pull out the camera instead...because as I look through our pictures, I realize it is the everyday moments that tell the best stories.

My First Meal

I know I have a lot of catching up to do on Jake and Emma's postings! Emma is crawling, eating solids (more of that in a moment), sleeping thru the night (hooray!) and getting bigger by the second...Jake is thriving in preschool and will be entering Pre-K in a few short weeks! We welcomed a new member of our family...Ava Kim Bui, our second niece, arrived on February 22.

But one milestone at a time...Emma took her first step into the world of solids exactly at the 6 month mark. She didn't exactly love her first few bites and more ended up on her bib than in her mouth. And of course, big brother Jake loves to get in on the action and is often eager to help feed her.
