Aloha 2008

We decided to take a long overdue family vacation to Maui....it was Jake's first time on a plane so as you can imagine we were a little bit nervous about the 5 hour flight. Armed with a bag full of new toys, books, snacks, DVD player and most importantly, his "blankie", we were off! Jake did great on the plane and we breathed a huge sigh of relief when we landed.

Jake loved everything about Hawaii...except the pool and the beach! He absolutely refused to get into the pool and we tried relentlessly for 6 days to get him to at least dangle his feet in the pool. We were a little surprised at his reaction since he had been in a pool a few times before and loves his bath time. But he loved the freedom of running free on the resort grounds, watching the koi fish in the ponds, and of course staying up late!

It was a fantastic trip and we loved every moment of our first big family vacation...Hawaii is our favorite vacation destination and we cannot wait to take Jake back.

Fascinated by the airplanes and cars at the airport Jake is pretty calm right before take off.

Day One - in an unfamiliar place, Jake held on tight to his favorite "blankie".

This was pretty much the closest Jake ever got to the pool...and he let Mom spend about 2 minutes on the beach before he decided he had enough. Definitely not long enough for even a picture!

One day we did manage to get him onto the pirate ship that was in the middle of the pool, but he was most definitely NOT interested in going down the slide.

Jake leading Dad to wherever he wants to go....

Engaging in his two favorite activities: koi fish watching and running around the resort.
