Happy Six Months Old

Jake turned six months old this month and we cannot believe how quickly time has flown by. At his six month appointment, he weighed in at 13 lbs. 8 oz and measured 26 inches. We can hardly believe how much he has changed in these last six months from a helpless, cute-but-unresponsive newborn to a happy, babbling, laughing, energetic, playful, and curious baby. We are in constant amazement watching his personality come through each day. One of our favorite things is watching him exhibit a trait (and depending on what it is) and turning to each other to say "He gets that from you!"

His six month birthday also marks the end of Mom's maternity leave. The time at home with him has been an incredible gift. There will never be another time like this one and Mom has loved every moment (yes, even the 2am feedings!). Fortunately, Jake will split his time during the week with Grandma and Grandpa Nguyen and Grandma Yuen. We are very, very lucky to have his grandparents to take care of him.

First Solids

And then he doesn't....

First he likes it....

Open wide!

Eagerly waiting for his first taste of solid food.

Jake hit another milestone this month...his first solids! We started him off with oatmeal cereal. So, with our video camera in hand and a fresh, clean bib securely around his neck, Dad gives Jake his first bite of "real" food. As expected, more ended up on his face and bib, but he did manage to swallow a couple of spoonfuls.

Christmas with Family

Auntie Trang and Uncle Steve hosted Christmas Day dinner at their house. At family get togethers, Grandma and Grandpa Nguyen can usually be found doting over Jake and Elise.

We celebrated Christmas with Dad's side of the family on Christmas Eve.

Christmas with Friends

Taking a break from the christmas festivities in his swing...Jake couldn't keep up with 1 1/2 year old Kayli or 2 year old Christopher but maybe next year!

Thank you Auntie Carman and Uncle Todd for my Christmas present!

Merry First Christmas

Christmas is always a special time of the year and of course, a baby's first christmas is something extra special to be cherished. Even though Jake will not remember his first christmas, it is something Mom and Dad will never forget.

Sitting Up and Reaching Out

Jake is also beginning to reach out and grab things (besides his toes!)...so now he's grabbing everything within arms reach.

So still a bit wobbly on his own, a more cautious Mom usually surrounds him with pillows.

Sitting up on his own....for a few seconds only. Dad is lurking around somewhere ready to catch him although not quite within arm's reach so right after this picture was taken Jake fell over much to Mom's dismay. :)
